Birthday Beach Walk

Since Birch Bay is Ron's favorite place we took advantage of a rain-free hour and went for a hike through the woods and down to the beach on his birthday weekend.

Jump Day

-->
Piercing screams fill the air at the Jump Around Fun Zone
I don’t know if they are
screams of joy or agony
excitement or
thwarted plans
but amid the loud hum of air filling
massive plastic pirates and pvc slides
and little mesh enclosed rooms filled with bouncing children
I peruse my guidebook called Forever Paris 25 Walks in the Footsteps of Chanel, Hemingway, Picasso and More and live
in the juxtaposition of two worlds.

It's all worth it of course because this sweet sweaty little one is happy....

Pinterest, let me count the ways...

I'll never hunt around for the right tee shirt again......

Happy New Year

Posted by PicasaRon and I ended 2012 with a hike to Chuckanut Falls in the morning, and celebrating with friends and family in the evening.

We began 2013 with a family (including Anna) walk through Whatcom Falls Park and then watching football in the afternoon.

Here's a new year's poem...it's not particularly cheerful but I like it anyway.

The Year
by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That's not been said a thousand times?

The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.

We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.

We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.

We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our brides, we sheet our dead.

We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that's the burden of the year.
